Across the Brooklyn Bridge
|

a little perspective on New York City with this guided
walking tour of the Brooklyn Bridge and the historic neighborhood
of Brooklyn Heights, home to one of the nicest-and most
famous-views of the Manhattan skyline and harbor!
We'll stroll across the bridge that once held a world
record for its length and into New York's "First
Suburb." Then, we'll explore the past and present
of Brooklyn Heights with stops at the Promenade; Brooklyn's
Borough Hall; the townhouse homes of American writers,
and other sites of interest. American students welcome!

The International Spouse Network (ISN) is a group of
international spouses and partners who come together
to socialize, explore New York City and its cultural
offerings, and share experiences, concerns, advice and
ideas.
Weekly ISN activities range from concerts, to walking
tours, to picnics, to exhibition visits, and always
promise fun without a high price! The ISN is run FOR
spouses, BY spouses and is here for you! Come to the
fall Welcome Meeting to meet new people, make friends
and learn how you can get involved!
This is a special program just for spouses and partners

Classroom Training Workshop

Classroom sends international students and scholars
into public schools all over New York City to speak
to groups of elementary, middle or high school students
and teachers. Join Global Classroom and share your home
country and culture with young people who, in turn,
will teach you what it's like to grow up in New York
City!
Our Training Workshop will introduce you to Global
Classroom and give you an opportunity to:
- Meet New York City teachers and students!
- Learn about the U.S. education system!
- Create a presentation about your home country &
culture!

Visit: Thanksgiving in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
|

Celebrate this American holiday as most Americans do
- with family! Travel to this small community neighboring
Amish and Mennonite farm country for a four-day weekend
of local culture and family fun. Enjoy a traditional
Thanksgiving dinner of turkey and all the trimmings
(including plenty of vegetables, salads, and desserts)
with an American host family, get a brief introduction
to Amish culture on a tour of Pennsylvania Dutch Country,
and share your culture with others at a gathering of
host families and students.
(There will be a mandatory orientation on Sunday evening,
November 21.)

Fee will not be refunded in the case of cancellation
on or after November 18, 2004.
*Partial financial assistance will be awarded to selected
students based on economic hardship thanks to the Esther
Swan Memorial Fund. To be considered for financial assistance,
please submit a one-page essay explaining why you should
receive financial aid for this program.

Volunteer Program: Help Out Hungry New Yorkers
|

Team up with other international students and Americans
to serve the needy-literally!
Gain insight into one of New York City's most challenging
problems and learn about volunteerism in the United
States as you spend the morning in a soup kitchen preparing
and serving breakfast to more than four hundred people.
Afterwards, join Metro for a light lunch and a discussion
of the volunteer experience.
