In over 900 relief missions per year, Midnight Run volunteers distribute food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless poor on the streets of New York City. The late-night relief efforts create a forum for trust, sharing, understanding and affection. This human exchange, rather than the exchange of goods, is the essence of the Midnight Run mission. |

Museum
Visit the apartments of the German-Jewish Gumpertz family in the 1870s and the Sicilian-Catholic Baldizzi family in the 1930s, and learn about the networks of support that were available to them during hard times. Following our tour of the Tenement Museum, students will have a rare
opportunity to discuss the development of social welfare in the United States, and compare the
options that people had in the past to those that are available today. |
