Each year, hundreds of New York area residents volunteer to open their homes, hearts, and workplaces to international students for a day, a weekend, or an extended American holiday. Get involved with Metro International as a host for one of our many community visit programs:
Discover New York
"Real" New Yorkers (native and transplants alike) welcome international
students to New York City each fall. Invite a student to spend the day with
you and introduce them to your home, your neighborhood, and your slice of
the Big Apple!
Job Shadowing Day
This special one-day community visit is part of Metro's Campus-to-Career series introducing international students to the world of work in
New York City and the United States. Open your office to eager international
students and get them out of the classroom and into the workplace!
Coordinate a Community Visit
Metro's popular Community Visits bring groups of international students
into different NYC neighborhoods and rural or suburban locations for one-day
or overnight visits with local families. Each Community Visit is made
possible through the leadership of a local coordinator who recruits host
families and communicates with Metro to arrange details of the group visit.
To organize a new program and "bring the world" into your community, contact
Metro International to propose a new partnership.
